Devigarh.... Part1

Those who live by the sword.... are bound to build forts... and temples.

Thirteen words to summarize the lives and times of the Rajputana of Rajasthan around the sixteenth century.

Devigarh, located about 30 kms off Udaipur, still retains its rustic charm. 


The fort-palace-resort too brings the glorious past to life.


The Monsoon clouds add to the atmosphere.


Haldighati seems an apt name for the nearby site where the great Chetak fell.


And, you expect the Rider of the Horse Blue to gallop around the corner anytime.

    thanks, Murali, Ahana and Yogi. the fort-palaces turned hotels are really cool.
    the decorators have left enough of the original 250 to 300 year old structure to give that "heritage" feel.
    but you got to pay through your nose for it.
    it seems heritage does not come cheap :-)
