Saas-bahu or Sahastrabahu?

Sanskrit is not a dead language, but it  certainly is a tormented one.

Imagine Sahastrabahu ( Sa-Hastra-Baa-hu) to be corrupted to Saas- Bahu by the fertile imagination of the fore-bearers of Ekta Kapoor.

The Mighty one with a Thousand Arms aka Vishnu, is relegated to Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, which may or may not be Godly, but undoubtedly is electric.

That is what, even the ASI calls it, the Saas-Bahu temple, bowing, perhaps, to the TRP rating of the ages.

In search of peace....

...with the messenger of peace.

Can a photo ever capture the,  love, patience and toil of the ones who carved this marvel?

Situated beside a lovely lake, in sleepy Nagda, 30  kms off Udaipur, this temple was built about a thousand years back..... and  is no longer a place of worship.

But, I have no doubt in my mind, that for the few people who visit, feel closer to God here, than ever before.

  3. adequate justice to the multitudinous decorative elements illustrated in the temple walls with dexterity, ingenuousness and inimitable genius betokening the early art tradition of India and Rajasthan in particular...Looks like sumptuously decorated edifice of the early period in good state of preservation..again a masterpiece of photography...simply wow! left me speechless!!
