Humayun's tomb- a World Heritage Site

In the 16th century, 9 years after Humayun died, his wife commissioned a tomb garden to be built in his memory.

Though time and other unnatural forces undid much of the effort put in by the angrez rulers  to maintain the complex, it still managed to become a world heritage site by 1993.

It is not difficult to figure out why. Breathtaking architecture and murals can still be seen at the cenotaph.

The gardens are beautiful and calm. And even the unknown, untended grave in the complex appear to be a part of the legacy of a great King and his clan.

and, the tomb functions as a backdrop to many a blossoming romance, even as ASI continues restoration work at the site.
