Simian, Sunset and Sita

Uluwatu, Bali is breathtakingly beautiful.

Here are three must do things on site.

1. Stand somewhere SAFE and sketch.

This just-about-started sketch is in memory of my glasses which were snatched away by one of the macaques. Smudge on upper RHS is his paw-utograph.

2. Watch the crimson sun set into the ocean.

Keep one eye on the sunset, and one on the simians, in case they return to take away your passport.

On second thoughts,  give away the passport. The sunset is awesome.

3. Watch Sita in the Kecak dance

The story of Sita's abduction, from the Ramayana, retold through a mesmerizing dance in the sunset.
The music is the "Kecak-Kecak-Kecak" chant by about 30 Balinese dancers.

For best results,
Round off the evening with a glass of Arak Madu. ( Balinese Palm hooch on the rocks, with honey and lemon).
