The soft-faced, well-built hero of Qurbani stole the heart of Zeenie baby.
As if the competition from Feroze Khan was not enough, we teenagers cursed.
Of course, sinister spells were also cast by the then young lady brigade, on the voluptous Zeenie baby.
Afterall, the cleft chin, the brooding eyes and the shock of hair on the forehead could melt many a heart.
Amar Akbar Anthony, saw eldest bro Amar as a stable, smiling family man ( after he beat up Amitabh - for which many viewers did not forgive him).
He left Bollywood at the peak of his career to find nirvana with Osho.
Truly the monk who sold his ferrari.
But like Siddhartha, he came back to celluloid and lots of producers put away any plans they had of slitting their wrists, in despair.
But, long before he became the goody good fella, he acted in a movie called Mera Gaon, Mera Desh. Together with Garam Dharam they dished out swag in dollops, when the word was not even coined.
Of course, Asha Parekh did contribute my rating of this movie not insignificantly, but that is beside the point.
In MGMD, VK flung himself at the watering hole and drank straight from the ground. Like a Panther.
His red rimmed eyes and predator prowl surgically removed all romantic feelings any of the lady viewers would have had of him. They snarled " Aur Maaro. Aur Maaro" when Dharam gave him the treatment at the end of the movie.
That movie defined how menacing a villain could be. I still rate it as his best performance ever.
That way he leaves Zeenie baby alone.
Oh!I forgot to tell you, He was called Jabbar Singh in this movie. Ring a bell?
