The Juggernaut and Nat Geo Traveller

What is it that drives people to stand a whole day in the sweltering heat - to see a God  who has no hands and no legs.

and, who has large round eyes that have no eye lids ( when many other Gods are shown with eyes half closed in peace! ).

Why do lakhs of people go to see these three ride wooden chariots for distance of about 3 kms to their aunt's house?

Who the heck wants answers?

I went there to soak in the atmosphere. and was swept away by the energy of the place. One million people in Puri. hundreds of thousands dancing and swaying to the beat of the Jagannath.
tens of them fainting in the heat and getting carried away on stretchers.
Just when we thought how much can the crowd endure- the skies opened up. and the crowd roared at the "Divine Intervention"

Can never forget the spectacle.

This photo made it to Nat Geo Traveller India  Sep 2013 mag - Finding calm in Chaos !

and, I was elated!!

Juggernaut not only rolls... but also rocks!!
