Sometimes, I think that the Frankfurt Motor Show is held in the second fortnight of September for a good reason.
Back home, summer has beaten a retreat, in a sense that sunstroke is not going to kill you, but probably dengue is going to make a valiant attempt.
People have begun unwrapping their cotton silks to kick off Onam, Ganesh Puja, Dussheram, Diwali and Xmas.
Germans, too, have just recovered from a particularly tiring summer break in August, and looking forward to the festival cheer in October.
The advent of the Fair is met with much enthusiasm.
Hotel rates go through the roof, with the hoteliers taking the burden of oiling the German economy, all by themselves.
At last count, they had beaten the contribution of automobiles to the EU GDP by a whisker.
In such a condition, we could only manage to get a hotel in the suburbs of Frankfurt, off Hessen-center station for a small fortune.
It was a cute little place called Amadeus.
Tripadvisor reviewers are either picky or prickly, for their reviews had made us wary in advance.
However, all I had to do was to walk into the room to be greeted through the sheer curtains, by a view that knocked tripadvisor's reputation off the perch, and added a score or so to that of the Hotel.
Subsequent sujourns to the breakfast spread reinforced my belief that this Amadeus was really a solid egg ( as PGW would have put it).
Allow me to share with you the view from the window..
